Planit, Brand Communications Agency

In 1994 an entrepreneurial spirit led Matthew Doud and Edward Callahan to establish Planit's foundation in Baltimore's business community. As longtime friends and natives of Greater Baltimore, Matt's management and writing skills coupled with Ed's creative talent successfully positioned Planit from a two person print marketing start-up to the thirty-one person integrated brand communications agency it is today.

Founded on three core principals, great creative, smart execution, and responsive relationship management, Planit won its first client, CitiFinancial. The success of the CitiFinancial account and the productive working dynamic between Matt and Ed would later expand Planit's client roster to include several project-driven deals with Baltimore Marine Industries, Doctor's Health, Citibank USA, and a host of other companies.

To this day, Planit continues its longtime partnership with CitiFinancial and several groups within the Citigroup family. The agency has also expanded its market reach to foster relationships with a diversified healthcare, biotechnology, financial and professional services, sports and entertainment, as well as travel and tourism clientele, including Cambrex Bio Science, University of Maryland School of Medicine, Nuveen Investments, Ripken Baseball, Lexus, Power Plant Live! and Ocean City Factory Outlets.

In an industry where trends are of the utmost importance, Planit is at the forefront. In 1996, the agency recognized and responded to the Internet and its marketing communication potential by launching Planit Interactive. As a result Planit's integrated approach to branding now includes five core areas of expertise: advertising, design, direct marketing, interactive programs, and public relations. Over the past several years, Planit has leveraged its expertise in these five principal areas to build results-driven, award winning integrated branding programs.

With a strong belief in the opportunity presented within Greater Baltimore's marketplace, Planit has always stayed true to its Maryland roots. Declining tempting offers to relocate to Chicago during the agency's inception, the founding principals anxiously moved Planit from Ed's basement to downtown Baltimore in 1995. In January 2001 Planit was again relocated to its current 10,000 square foot facility in the Power Plant in Baltimore's Inner Harbor.

Since its founding, the agency has been completely self-funded by its cofounders. In 2001, Planit's employee growth increased by over 30% and the agency continually exceeds its revenue forecasts. As a top-performer in the region, Planit is recognized by the Baltimore Business Journal as one of the "Most Generous Corporate Givers" in Greater Baltimore and has garnered numerous awards for its creative excellence from organizations including American Corporate Identity, American Advertising Federation, Card Marketing Magazine, Web Marketing Association, and the Advertising Association of Baltimore.
