Java Enterprise Solutions, LLC
Java Enterprise Solutions, LLC (JES) is a Baltimore-based
provider of software application development training, mentoring
and consulting services.
Peter Seymour founded Java Enterprise Solutions in 1998 after
working at Sun Microsystems during the introduction of the Java
programming language. At Sun, Peter co-developed three of the
first four Java programming courses, worked as a Systems Engineer
and Java Ace, and managed Sun's New York City Education Center.
Peter co-authored the first Java Developer's Handbook, published
by Sybex, and was the first instructor to teach a Java course
delivered by Sun Microsystems.
Recognizing Java's potential impact on web development
technologies, Peter founded JES with the goal of providing a
blend of training and consulting services. JES is now in its
fourth year and has seven employees.
JES's consultants are certified to conduct training in Java,
CORBA, C++, Oracle, Epicentric and Vitria. The same group of
skilled consultants provides software development consulting to
clients on an outsourced or contract basis.
JES stays involved in the learning process from teaching the
concepts to reviewing the code, rather than separating classroom
training from on-the-job application integration. JES customizes
classroom training to reflect the client's environment, and
follows it with onsite mentoring through implementation, to assure
clients have acquired the skills needed to independently support
their new applications.
Consulting projects vary in duration from a few days to several
months, and the scope may range from assisting with a version
upgrade to managing the entire lifecycle development and deployment
of a server-side Java application.
Java Enterprise Solutions, LLC has several exciting projects in
the pipeline that reflect the organization's flexibility and
expertise. These projects include:
A web development project being performed in partnership with IBM
utilizing Commerce Server on an AS/400.
A unique training/consulting hybrid being explored in partnership
with Epicentric.
A software application development project for a DOD contractor
that includes operator training.
An eight-week bootcamp for 78 new database information managers
for a non-profit organization.
Training on the new Microsoft .NET development platform.
Over the past year Java Enterprise Solutions, LLC has provided
training and consulting to services to Oracle Corporation,
Epicentric, IBM, Pricewaterhouse, CitiFinancial, the St. Paul
Insurance Companies, and the City of Baltimore.
Java Enterprise Solutions has training rooms located in two
facilities in Baltimore, at 16 South Calvert Street downtown, and
on Fort Avenue in Locust Point, above the soon-to-open internet
caf„, The Whole Bean.
