Digital Media100, The Digital Harbor's New Breed DigitalMedia100 (nicknamed DM100) is a newly formed web- development company located in the Federal Hill area of south Baltimore. The company offers a variety of design and technology- related services including, web design, database implementation, web-based advertising and web-based customer service. DM100 was formed this past fall, by Ryan Gilligan and Jim Bell. Both worked for a full service I.T. firm based in Howard County. Their experience is in networking, database development and web development. DM100 represents just one company of a large number of web- development firms located in the harbor area. When asked why they located in Federal Hill, Ryan was quick to point out all of the benefits for being in the city. They're attracted by urban life, the cost of space was significantly less expensive than Howard County, and they're closer to the area's web development community. In fact, Jim moved into the Federal Hill area in conjunction with starting DM100, and one of the company's other two employees lives in Federal Hill as well. One of DigitalMedia100's latest successes was the e-commerce site redesign for Maryland Nautical Sales, Inc. (www.mdnautical.com) a world leader in nautical charts & books, based in Baltimore, MD. The overhaul consisted of new graphic design, a dynamic navigational menu, and improved content flow for more effective product promotion. In addition to helping businesses employ web-based technology, DM100 plays an active role in the local community. This past fall, they volunteered to design a web site for the Fort McHenry Business Association (FMBA) as well as recently upgrading DigitalHarborOnline.com's image. As one of the DM100 principals puts it, "Image is not everything, but it does play a strong role in attracting business and cultivating a sense of pride for the community, which can only benefit everybody involved. The more you help, the more everyone receives. This is a simple attitude that is reflected in all of our work and relationships." The company's specializes in the integration of technology and design for small to medium-size business with a strong emphasis on solutions that reflect business processes. They are currently focusing on merging database and web-development for the general contracting industry by making internal databases available over web browsers.
