Commerce One e-Business Innovations
Commerce One e-Business Innovations got its start as the steadily burning coals in the ashes of Commerce One's acquisition of e-business services firm AppNet, Inc. in 2000. Commerce One re-branded this division with its current moniker and charged it with a renewed business focus to provide end-to-end e-business services and solutions. Commerce One e-Business Innovations applies its 22-years of technology expertise to craft tailored software solutions to power the Business Internet for its clients.
Located in Columbia, the 110-person organization applies a unique
perspective on business challenges that clients face and crafting innovative solutions to meet these challenges. They service clients throughout the U.S. as well as internationally.
Commerce One e-Business Innovations offers a wide variety of technology solutions in the following core areas of expertise: strategy/management consulting, creative/web design, application development, system integration, and managed application services. They address varied clients needs through tailored solution offerings and via targeted service offerings, which leverage pre-built software packages to meet specific requirements. Most of the office's work is custom, and that allows the business unit to gain traction in providing innovative solutions that chart the course for "business as unusual."
Some of the group's accomplishments include: enabling clients to win six CIO WebBusiness awards in the late 1990's for Internet and intranet innovation and developing and managing UCCnet (www.uccnet.org), the world's leading product information registry which is poised to become the e-business standard for 23 industries worldwide. As a UCCnet Preferred Alliance Partner, the division also offers companies end-to-end onramp solutions to UCCnet's trading partner directory and item synchronization solution. Other major customers include Lippincott Wilkins & Williams, Novartis, Virginia Hospital Center, and MCI WorldCom.
Although the e-business services world has been slow, Commerce One e-Business Innovations has managed to prosper with a focus on next-
generation e-business solutions. The potential for growth and the current client base will propel Commerce One e-Business Innovations to $25 million in revenue this year.
Commerce One e-Business Innovations is a prime example that even in rough waters, a company can survive on customer service and reputation alone. A brief look along the horizon could mean that these stubborn burning coals could ignite a well-fueled fire once again.
